http://users2.ev1.net/~turton/teach_index.html - Mr. Turton's site is highly recommended reading for anyone coming to teach English in Taiwan.  Unlike most other sites this is not a site made up of links, but of experiences, research and first hand knowlege.
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Towers/5657/index.html    Horizon English services is a site by Chris Murphy the author of "Four Years Without Socks." There is some very funny material at his site about the ups and downs of teaching in Taiwan. Great original content.
http://aroundkaohsiung.freeservers.com/  There is a community calendar, there are addresses of school, restaurants, pubs, list of community groups, churches, hospitals.
http://peacock.tnjc.edu.tw/ROC_info.html General info about Taiwan.  Brief history, geography, topography, climate, maps, religion, language. 
www.oriented.org    Oriented has some great resources (there is a pretty active forum for buying and selling scooters and furniture, finding roommates etc.) Unfortunately, most of the posters are in Taipei at this point.
http://www.undergroundtravel.com/  This is a neat site covering many of the ins and outs of working abroad.  You will find something interesting here!
http://www.ait.org.tw/  American Institute in Taiwan provides help and information to Americans living abroad.
http://canada.org.tw/index.shtml  Canadian Trade Office in Taipei - Canadians contact these folks for information about taxes, Canadian passports, etc.

GAMES for the ESL Classroom

  http://www.eslcafe.com/ideas/index.html   This is the list of hints and tips for teachers broken down into categories. There are over 120 games in the game section, however the quality of the games varies greatly and it is slow to access.

http://ntwww.ora.nsysu.edu.tw/ensysu/ The Nation Sun Yet-Sen University has Mandarin language classes for foreigners as well as classes about Asian politics, geography, management etc.  You must apply early to take classes.  
http://www.tli.com.tw/e/ Most of the recruiters and staff at Taiwan Teachers have taken classes at TLI.  Their classes are conveniently located in downtown Kaohsiung.
