Medical Check

You will need to get a medical check-up in order to get your Work Permit.  We use the hospital on Szwei Rd. and Tzuchiang Rd.  You will notice that it looks like a scooter store, because this large hospital has no designated parking!

We will take you to the sixth floor where you will have a complete exam. You must prove that you can poo and pee by providing the nurses with a sample of your work. You must give blood. You will also have to go back down to the first floor and get x-rays done.  When this is all done you pay them 1400 NT (kind of ironic isn't it?)  This check-up is very thorough, and is actually very reasonably priced!  Furthermore, you will now be eligible for coverage under Taiwan's National Health Insurance. This coverage is very good, and includes comprehensive dental coverage. It even covers cosmetic dental work done.

Note: The first month or two you are here you will not be covered, as your paperwork will be being processed.  This is also the time that you least understand Taiwan's traffic!  You may want to buy some short term travel/health insurance to cover that two month period.
